After a week of successful use of WSJT-x it will no longer open. The error message "Failed to create a usable temporary directory.

Another application may be locking the directory"

I have uninstalled and re installed 4 times and keep getting the error message.

I have ran a Full scan with Norton antivirus with no indication of a problem.

I attempted to delete the Temp file to no avail.

Currently at a loss as to what to do next.

I'm assuming you are using windows. Try rebooting in safe mode and delete the temp file.

No file appearing in the temp files related to the program. I'm stumped.....

Try using a text editor (notepad) to open the wsjt-x.ini file and check the contents. Look for something funky like a directory or folder location that does not make sense. You could also make a copy of the ini file and then delete it. The program may recreate it using default settings and open.

Uninstalling WSJT-X does not remove the existing .INI file, delete the .INI manually.

Please note that WSJT-X will need to be re-configured after that.
