We all know that personal disaster equipment costs money. Relief organizations do no always realise this. Regardless. Disasters happen, people do need communication help. But in alot of disaster areas people are very stressed, some times other people even take advantage and steal tools and equipment. 1. Would you bring your personal equipment to a disaster area, to help?
sure - but I would stay the hell out of the way unless I was specifically asked by actual first-responder officials to contribute "comms" I certainly wouldn't show up in a day-glow vest in a converted Crown Victoria with 33 antennas on the roof. Ahem. Dave W7UUU
If it were being used for communications essential to the immediate safety of human life and or protection of significant property, I'd gladly let someone else use it. No second thoughts. If it were being used for nonessential communications, I'd probably take it with me as I left the area. I'd make the judgement taking into account all of the actual circumstances.
What? That resembles someone we both know... Except for the day-glo vest. I have a couple I've "borrowed" if any one wants one. Orange, chartreuse, or yellow. Crown Vic optional...
