I cant find info on this on the net and Ive tried a few different combinations to wire this to my FT-990 which is a standard Yaesu 8 pin. Microphone wire colors are red, black, white, sheild, green

Get your radio's owner's manual for the pin assignments for the radio's microphone connector!!

Astatic was one USA manufacturer (Shure, EV, and Turner were the others)
that tried to stay consistent in the usage/wire color on microphone cabling.

    MIC Audio (+): WHITE
    MIC Audio (GND): SHIELD
PTT (+): RED sometimes referred to as TX line
    PTT (-): BLACK

GREEN wire? Likely not needed in your wiring
RX wire, used in some applications to prevent feedback -- mute speakers

IF the microphone is a USED purchase from eBay or a hamfest --
DOUBLE CHECK the wiring (in case of undocumented mods)
using the continuity function of your VOM/DVM.

    Pin 8 is mic
    Pin 7 is ground
    Pin 6 is ptt

Most Astatics are wired as some have already mentioned

    White is usually mic
    shield is ground
    red is usually ptt
black is sometimes used as a receive wire, but could be the other half of the relay in the mic
