You are right it is a voltage doubler..
Helps to have contact lens in
They just used replaceable fuses, so they could be selected appropriately based on the source voltage. The way you had the SB-220 breakers wired was correct ONLY when operating on 240V.
!!!!!!!!!!!! <-- matching exclamation marks, for emotional effect.
I neglected to add emphasis using certain words in ALL CAPS.
You guys are going to make me do it, aren't you??
OKAY FINE Tomorrow I will sit down with highlighters and attempt to prove the as wired primary circuit is not only safe but will disconnect power when the breaker trips.
I agree with tne newer SB-1000 wiring, which uses 2 primaries and a jumper block just like the SB-220. The only difference is there is NO SSB/CW switching.
I gotta an original SB-221 manual at the HRO Swapmeet today for $5!!!
That was a good deal.
I also got about 15 4CX250s with some chimneys and sockets.
SO now I am thinking about a 2 meter KILOWATT!!!
We need to do that.
