Bill Smashy of Smiley Antennas passed away unexpectedly in Dec. Wife Betty is also a ham.

 

I don't believe I'd heard Bill Passed away. Over the years he and I had many conversations and Bill was a wonderful man always willing to assist those in need. I remember Bill allowing local hams to install repeaters at his Crest home as it's a good repeater locations for San Diego. I also remember Bill buying the Antenna business from Don Smiley, no relation to Bill and them having similar names. Ahh for the days of the Old 04/64 Otay repeater. It's odd growing up on radio as I did, you get to know so many old guys that due to age and illness pass on to that HAM shack in the sky.

Bill you were always kind and encouraging, Thank you.
