The W3J special event station will be on the air on May 31st, the Tuesday after Memorial Day, from the Johnstown Flood National Memorial (NM14) in South Fork, PA. We will be operating from the Park Unit which counts for NPOTA and we will be uploading the activation to LOTW.

We will be operating 2 100w stations, one CW and one SSB. Our primary bands will be 20 and 40 meters. If 15 is open we may move down to it, and if we can manage an 80m antenna will may attempt that as well. But most of the operations will be on 40 or 20. We should be on the air shortly after park open at 9:00 am and will likely be off the air around 9 pm or a bit after as park close is at 10 pm (all times eastern).

Please note this is a true portable operation and our main weakness will be antennas. We will do our best to hear you, and will switch the bands around at times to try to spread the SSB and CW love.

We will have multiple operators and will have to switch out at various times of the day. Please be courteous in the pile-ups, especially on sideband where some newer operators will get mic time. I have heard enough tom-foolery in recent NPOTA activations, and a few of our ops are not contesters and have never been on the receiving end of a pileup.

QSL Cards will be created after the event with photos from the day. QSL via N3TWM with SASE. No card needed but at least include QSO information.

We look forward to working you in the pile-ups.
