After a long delay in shipping due to the ice/snow storm this week, it looks like UPS delivered my new/used radio to the wrong address! I called UPS, and they claim that the package was delivered to my exact address. However, there is no way a UPS delivery truck would have made it down my long driveway without leaving tracks as the cleared area was barely wide enough for a car (my wife was also home all day, and never heard nor saw UPS Brown enter the driveway). As I purchased this radio off of an eBay seller using PayPal and had very little luck in recovering my funds from their dispute process for an eBay deal gone bad last year, I guess I am going to have to dispute the charge if UPS cannot recover my radio.

Has anyone ever had UPS deliver one of their radios to a wrong address? If so, did you manage to recover it? Hopefully, the radio was delivered to one of my honest neighbors and it will show up at my house sometime tomorrow.

thisssss is why you get signature required on all stuff over $100

You'll have to play by UPS's rules with regards to disputing this unless you paid for it with Visa, which should be your second line of protection (always pay for stuff with a MC/Visa/major credit card - that way you can chargeback and dispute if stuff goes haywire).

Also, "they couldn't have gotten down my driveway" won't get you very far....

Yes, but my wife was home all day, and never heard nor saw a UPS truck pull into our driveway (our house is too far away from the road for a UPS driver to waste his/her time walking down the driveway).

Requesting a signature doesn't help either, they will deliver it to the wrong house and let the person at the wrong house sign for it. That’s what happened to me with my new ts-570 and my hustler 5BTV. I saw the UPS truck go by my house and on its way back down the street I flagged him down because the computer said my stuff was on the truck “out for delivery”.

When I told him what it was and my house number he stood there with a dumbfounded look and said he thought my house was the one down the street and he had already made the delivery. After he realized the mistake he drove back down the street and explained to the person at the wrong house what the deal was and picked the stuff back up and brought it down to my house. If I had not stopped him who knows what would have happened. And yes the person at the wrong house DID sign for the package.

When you ship with UPS, request a signature, INSURE the hell out of what ever is in the box and always purchase it with a credit card. If you don’t have this to hang over their head most merchants will just tell you to take it up with UPS.

UPS is not what they used to be by any means. They are worse than airport baggage handlers. These days I will pay the couple extra bucks and ship with FEDEX they are much gentler on packages and much more responsive when you have an issue.

    Good luck on your fight

UPS has delivered guns ordered by the Houston police department to a residence before.
The person who signed thought it was for his boss, and took it to the business.
When the package was opened the business owner called the Houston police.
    UPS? no comment.
The packages had nothing on the outside to indicate what was inside, just HPD and the address.

The problem with UPS is that only the shipper can initiate the "package trace" process. If the shipper refuses to initiate the trace process, then the problem will be between my bank and eBay’s middleman PreyPal.

    Yes, It happened to me.
My address is 310, I waited all day for the radio. Finally, I went onto their website and it said "Delivered on porch". I went Nuts.
Icalled them but they told me the driver was still out. So I then used some common sense and decided to walk down the street and check address 301 Yep, There it was, sitting on the Porch. Whew, was I relieved !!

I hope you get it back. They usually make the driver go back to where he Delivered it in a situation like that.

I DO get upset when UPS leaves thiungs by the door, even when someone is home; they often don't even ring the doorbell!

But if "signature required" is specified, and they deliver to the wrong address, the signature will obviously not match the adressee's name, so you have a good point of contention there. (If you're John Doe and Tom Smith signed for the package, then there IS a problem that is UPS's fault.)

They've done it to me three times now, the last one was a $10,000 insurance check!! I tracked that one every step of the way and when it didn't show up in time I was on the phone with the local UPS office. He said it was delivered to the back door, I informed him I live in a berm home and as such it has no back door. Fortunately for them the guy that lives at the address they deliver to when they screw up is a nice guy and usually just brings it over to me or gives me a call on the phone.

    UPS, your second mistake..

I haven't patronized eBay since 1999 when they refused to investigate my claim.

I haven't patronized UPS since 1998 when they destroyed a second package for me.. They once left a $2,000 radio on my doorstep without getting a signature even though one was required.

This is why I use DHL as my shipper.

UPS delivered my medical scooter it came in 5 boxes and three of the boxes the items within had damage. This was a brand new Rascal scooter they just threw it off the back of their truck in my driveway. They also delivered to my home a empty box it still had the manual inside but the Spider hf antenna was gone.
Nothing I could do about it and I had 1,000 bucks insurance on the scooter.

UPS is not the reliable shipper they used to be... I recently saw where they're touting that ground can be 48 hours or less. My (possibly strange) thinking is that one way this can be accomplished is with less accuracy...

I also can contribute anecdotes about UPS service vs. FedEx, but it seems pointless... folks will use what which is familiar and comfortable... or that which the seller insists on using.

Given a choice, I will not use UPS.

The local UPS Delivery guy doesnt even come up to the stair's to my house he just throws the box'es up on my door step and this one time he threw my nextel i870 motorola phone hard as he could at my door there was a loud bang so I went to the front step and I saw my new phone from Motorola and I opened up and hooked everything back up like it should be when I turned the phone on and it said enter sim card even knowing I have my sim's card inside the phone I've tried this over and over take'ing the card out and putting back in nothing worked. So I went to the local repair place for Motorola they tooked the phone in the back and the technician came back and he showed me the broken part in the main board he gave me a new phone since mine was still under the warranty when I got back home I registered a complaint with UPS and told them everything and the guy who took the complaint from me said he will leave a note to the local loading/unloading/delivery center for ups and tell them about it guess what? no one called me. Couple of weeks later he threw my Icom 706mkigg handheld against the door step locally nothing was broke I went outside where he was at the stair's about to walk away I guess I scared him? because he jumped back I was like can you not knock on the door? instead of throwing my packages? he was like uh uh uh uh uh I was like my point exactly to myself then he walked away so I called UPS again to file my secound complaint against the driver and the same happen again no one called.

I use to work at the local UPS shorting facility and trust me what you see from the other loaders (people who load the trucks) just throw the box'es in the trailors no matter if they are small/meduim or the big size box'es that takes 2 people to load them in the trailor even the big dollar packages that people pay alot of money to send them. The reason why I quit is for that reason is people throwing the packages and mis-handled them when they had us in training watching the movie's in training they said No mishandling the packages or throwing them? So what do people do in the warehouse throw packages?

Here's an idea for Mr. Box Thrower... Order something cheap, have it shipped by UPS, wait for the guy to throw the box at your door, and right when he throws the box, open the door and throw a box with a brick inside at him!!! Not that I condone violence or anything, it would be fun to see the look on his face when he sees a box come flying back at him! [IMG]

I have never had that problem.

I always have my deliveries to my business address. Never had a problem.

However, this stuff happens a lot and not just with UPS. Last week I got a letter in the mail addressed to Comcast Cable on Bellcore Drive in my town. I live on Beacon. I put a yellow sticky on it saying "wrong address" and left it in my mailbox. The next day it was gone, only to return the following day. I took it directly to the post office and explained the problem. There is a "Bellecor Drive" in my town....but no "Bellcor". I told the USPS person that my street "Beacon" isn't even close to "Bellcor". The USPS person said "no problem". It was back in my mailbox the next day.

The return address was a P.O. Box but I looked the company up on the internet. It was a cleaning service and they were located just down the street from my office. I took the letter to them and explained the situation. So far, it has not returned to my home address.

I have no explaination for this situation. I would have thought that the mailman would know that my house wasn't Comcast Cable and the street wasn't the same.

I went beyond what I should have done with this situation.
