    Silver micas were not really popular except in the military until the 50's and the cases were often red or pink. Regular micas were more popular for general use, the cases brown and leakage can be tested with most any tube type cap checker that uses the actual voltage; Heath, Eico, Solar, Sprague and others. They did not suffer from SMD but if the case seal had opened even a tiny bit moisture could get in. I have some from the 30's that are still fine.
