I have 3 of these power supplies and none of them seem to turn on or give power to the transceiver. These came from my grandfather's estate and I do not know what to do with them. Are these power supplies worth anything at all? Are the 2 Swan radios I have, models 700cx SSB Transceiver SS-16B Special and 500 SSB Transceiver worth anything without a working power supply?

I am trying to sell all these things and don't know what to do with them. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

I'd be happy to check them all for you but the problem is the cost to properly pack and ship these relatively large and heavy items is quite high, likely well over $100.

Instead, try to find a "local" who knows Swan equipment well and has a good test bench and is willing to check them out for you.

"Value" varies from several hundred dollars (the 700CX/SS-16 combination is "prized" by Swan collectors) to almost nothing, depending whether they work or not!:)

They're pretty easy to work on, being tube rigs with a lot of room inside. The final amplifier tubes are very "pricey" nowadays, but they can be found.

Kind of obvious, but did someone borrow the fuses?

It does not even look like the light on the front even turns on. I am not sure what is wrong with them.

Again, another "obvious" question, but, do you have the power supplies actually connected to a radio? They will not "turn on" unless they are connected to a radio.

    Damage done by improper connection

Stephen, KB7BGS (SwanTrader on eBay) was offering an upgrade PC board for this power supply in 2008 for $65 plus shipping.

Bob Ellis, K0BGH had a PC board and kit of parts -- BUT his web site appears to have been taken down. He also had daughter boards for Motorola Oncore GPS 8 and 12 channel units.

Mouser has the parts you need (about $30) for the simplest rebuild/upgrade of your Swan 117XC power supply. Buy the parts and Replace the bad components in your current unit (as long as the large trasnformer is OK)
