    GENEVA - Stan D. Proffitt, 76, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday (September 21, 2016) at Rochester General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
    Family and friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday (September 26) at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee Street Geneva. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will be at the convenience of the family.

    Contributions may be directed to Our Lady of Peace Parish, 130 Exchange St. Geneva, NY 14456.


    Stan was born on June 2, 1940, in Glasgow, Ky. and was a son of the late Earl and Luanne (Nabors) Proffitt. He worked as a truck driver for 35 years and was a member of the Teamster Local Union, of Rochester and Syracuse.
    Stan was also a Ham Radio operator, for 35 years.
    In 1961, he was a pitcher for a Cincinnati Reds Minor League Baseball Team, the Geneva Redlegs.

    Stan so enjoyed golfing, boating, hunting, fishing and watching golf and baseball on TV.

    He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Jacob and Brice.

    Stan will always be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness and warmth that allowed him to connect with people, of all walks of life.


    He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Farlo) Proffitt, of Geneva; son, Stan M. (Deborah) Proffitt, of Geneva; daughters Sheila (Rick) Case, of Canandaigua and Stacy (Nick) Cecere, of Geneva; brother, Roger (Kathy) Proffitt, of Glasgow, Ky.; grandchildren Jacob Case and Brice Cecere; niece, Amy (Tim) Fisher and great-niece, Kaitlyn Fisher, of Glasgow, Ky.
