Soviet Trans-polar Ski-Veterans Use Inverted Vee

The UPN television network recently screened the successful crossing of the ice-bound Arctic Ocean by a three man Soviet ski-team.

The interest of at least one American ham operator was drawn to the novel inverted vee antenna mast utilizing the explorer's ski poles.
The specially designed metal ski-poles were interlocked end to end and raised vertically to about twenty five feet in order to support the bare-wire inverted vee antenna and it's bare-wire ladder line with insulators spaced about five inches apart:
