STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Bruno Mauer, 95, of Castleton Corners, a retired marine engineer and ham radio operator, died Jan. 28 in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze. The native Staten Islander was a lifelong Castleton Corners resident. Mr. Mauer served in the Merchant Marines, during WWII. He worked for 40 years as a mariner engineer at the Esso Oil Company. He graduated from Port Richmond High School, and held a bachelor's degree from Wagner College, Grymes Hill. A licensed ham radio operator, he was a member of the Staten Island Radio Club. Arrangements including cremation were handled by the Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home, Port Richmond.
