    ROBERT ALEXANDER ERSKINE, JR., 80, of Metamora, died Sunday June 16, 2019.

    He was born October 25, 1938, in Detroit, to parents Robert and Ruth (Sammer) Erskine. Mr. Erskine proudly served his country during the Vietnam War era, as a radar tech for the

    United States Air Force. He returned home to court and marry, Joanne M. Lorcke on August 17, 1963 in Birmingham.

    Bob enjoyed working on or admiring old Ford tractors and old cars. He was a fan of music in general, especially classical music, the group Abba and Bob Segar. Robert’s main passion was HAM Radio, former call number W8RAE, it was great fun from collecting equipment to the community of people. The family could not forget to mention his beloved cats, Tucker and Chloe.

    Mr. Erskine is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Joanne; sons, Bob Erskine of Columbiaville and David Erskine of Metamora; grandchildren, Jon, Robert and Miranda; great-granddaughter, Evie; siblings, Bill Erskine, Ed (Ginger) Erskine and Diane Richardson.


    He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Memorial contributions may be made to catholic Mass Cards.

    Mr. Erskine’s visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer, with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary that evening. His funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday June 21, 2019 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, Dryden. The family will receive friends, at the church, Friday from 9:00-9:55 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow in Metamora Cemetery.

    I had just talked to Bob on the phone a few days before his passing. He was a great guy and I already miss him.
