    Robert ‘Bob’ Wolfe, 92, formerly of Hammond, IL, died at Arbor Rose Memory Care in Tolono on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018.


    Bob Wolfe was born in Union County, Indiana on November 19, 1926, the son of Cecil and Margaret Coddington Wolfe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, and granddaughter Emily Neese.


    Bob graduated from Short High School in Liberty, Indiana in May of 1944. Bob was proud to have served his country in the US Navy from 1944-1947 where he received a Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was stationed at Great Lakes, Illinois; Seattle, Washington; and Pearl Harbor. In 2009, Bob was honored to be part of the Central Illinois Honor Flight to Washington, DC.


    Bob worked for the CSX Railroad and was a freight agent at both Atwood and Decatur locations before he retired. He was an active member of the Hammond United Methodist Church where he served the church in many capacities. He was a fifty year Mason of the Grand Lodge of Indiana, and also participated in the Eastern Star Lodge at both Lovington and Champaign chapters.


    His passion was talking on his ham radio where he developed many friendships over the past fifty years. He liked to fish and one could find him during the spring and summer months outside weeding the flower gardens. He was also a devoted Cincinnati Reds fan, and he would tell you about the time he met Johnny Vandermeer as a youngster.


    Bob is survived by three children: Joe (Sherrie) Wolfe of Atwood; Margie Reynolds of Danville; and Marilyn (Mark) Gustin of St. Charles, Missouri. There are five grandchildren: Jason (Alicia) Wolfe, Greg (Ashley) Allison, Adam Titus, Heidie (Mike) Obermeier, and True Neese; and ¬¬ten great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.


    Visitation will be on Saturday December 8, 2018 from 1-2:30 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East US Highway 36, Atwood, IL. Graveside military services will follow the memorial service at the Hammond Cemetery.


    Our family would like to thank the staff’s at Brookstone Estates in Tuscola and Arbor Rose Memory Care in Tolono for their sincere care shown to dad.


    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hammond United Methodist Church or the Atwood-Hammond Christmas Needy Fund.
