I decided to see what kind of radio I could entirely make out of my reject parts bin.....leaky capacitors, past their prime germanium transistors, cracked ferrite cores, and maybe a worn out tube or two.

Who else here has built something that actually WORKS made entirely out of crap?

You need to have tubes in there somewhere...
    Maybe a 6DQ6 speech amplifier.

I just inherited a whole flock of 2e26s. I think they're mostly unused. Stay tuned

I have a 7092 power tube (good to 50 MHz) I'd like to donate to the cause. Scavenged it from an old industrial plastic sealer unit that was set up to operate at 27.1 MHz: good for 2.5 kW.

I have a 5894 which could be used as a balanced modulator.

A balanced modulator right at the power stage...cool!

That's one way to do it...
Better yet just run the plate and screen voltage down to about seventy volts and you should have a nice low level BM... :)

Radio Shack used to do that all the time.
