    Last time I had a major provider outage it was 2 hours.

    I was credited 1 month of service free for the inconvenience.

    That was nice, but sometimes the small outages can cost big money in sale and service.

    What is all the talk of DOD ?

    As far as I know they still have their own separate networks and use their own secure satellites for data, and the important stuff is not even on the internet.

    If $40 a year breaks me, somewhere along the way, things went horribly wrong :)

    its not the money and yes, I even expect some downtime based on the QRZ architecture. My only point was when you charge for a service, dismissing a "little downtime" seems the wrong approach. Just my opinion though.
