Parliamentary question to the EU Commission answered

On February 26 a question from the EU Parliament concerning pollution of the radio spectrum by Powerline modem (PLT) devices was submitted to the EU Commission

A Google translation of the DARC report says:

The parliamentary question "Determining limit value exceedances by powerline modems when in use by end-users" to the European Commission has been answered. The reply of EU Commissioner for the Internal Market, Industry and Entrepreneurship Elżbieta Bieńkowska can now be read on the Internet.

The question was raised with the question "What is the Commission doing to combat such unwanted effects (from powerline modems, ie R.E.D.)?". The reply reads, inter alia: "Member States are responsible for the application of the EMC Directive. Thus, any control of the conformity of used powerline modems is one of the national market surveillance activities."

The full answer from Mrs Bieńkowska, on behalf of the European Commission, can be found at:

So, in other words... they're doing nothing and hope others will do it for them.

    ... and the RFI continues.
