"Three tons of gear were successfully transported to the St. Paul team
on Friday. This was accomplished using two boats and seven helicopter runs
to the island. Another boat is scheduled to transport additional gear this
afternoon. At least two helicopter runs are scheduled later this morning.
We hope to have both islands fully supplied by late afternoon/early
evening on Saturday. The Northeast Island team is essentially supplied
while the Atlantic Cove team still needs essential gear.
We hope to have both sites fully operational by Saturday evening. Weather
is marginal today so we will have to wait to hear from the boat captain
    and the helicopter crew.
All team members are on St. Paul except for WA4DAN who is assisting with
the helicopter and boat logistics. The helicopter is stationed on the
Northeast Island for the duration of the DXpedition. The team expresses

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE <http://www.bandconditions.com>:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

T31, CENTRAL KIRIBATI (Press Release #3, Dated August 16, 2016). [edited]
    Central Kiribati T31W (Kanton Island) - 2017 DX-pedition <T31W.com>
The Perseverance DX Group <pdxg.net> is on schedule for next year’s
DX-pedition to Central Kiribati (Kanton Island). We are planning 15 days
on the island during October, 2017.
Joining the team is Chris Tate, N6WM. Team members previously named are:
    Arnie/N6HC, Kevin/K6TD, Heye/DJ9RR, Pista/HA5AO, Laci/HA0NAR, Gene/K5GS,
    Les/W2LK, Glenn/KE4KY, Mike/WA6O, Ricardo/PY2PT and Steve/W1SRD.
The expedition yacht Evohe from Dunedin, New Zealand will meet the team
in Apia, Samoa, for the estimated 4 day sail to Kanton Island. The landing
permit application is currently being reviewed by the authorities.
T31 is #18 most wanted on Clublog. However, the need in EU is significant
for all modes. Getting a team to T31 requires a safe boat and qualified
skipper/crew, this DX-pedition will not be inexpensive. The team is
committed to paying 50% of the cost and we look to the DX community to
help with the remaining 50%. The Donate function on <T31W.com> is now
    available for your use.
Please direct questions to Gene/K5GS or Pista/HA5AO at their QRZ.com
    address.

ATTENTION SATELLITE OPS!!! Paul, N8HM, reported on Thursday, August
18th [edited]: The next several weeks should be very exciting for satellite
users across North and South America as well as Europe. Starting tomorrow,
the CY9C DXpedition will be QRV from St. Paul Island with great footprints
across Europe and North America and it was announced last night that the
YX0V DXpedition to Aves Island, scheduled (sometime between) for August 31st
    - September 10th, will include satellite operations as well [See the AMSAT
WEB page: http://www.amsat.org/?p=5436 ]. The Caribbean location and flat
island terrain should provide excellent footprints across North and South
    America.
Steve, W4DTA/YV5DTA, sent out the following update on August 20th:
    Hello all..
YX0V team both in YV and here in the USA have been working almost non
top! A big FEDEX package was send to Caracas today with shirts, basic
supplies and a new antenna analyzer, hopefully it will arrive in time.
The team is now working on a contingency plan for power. At the moment
there is only one power plant working in YV0, so there are periods of
black outs mostly during the night. The team is purchasing a new generator
capable of running a few stations, so there might be times that not all
stations will be on the air. A operating plan should be available to me
very soon. The good news Hams around the world have step up with donations,
and that is helping defray some of the cost.
More to come, but if you have any questions that you will like me to ask
the team, please feel free to email me or call me.
    73.... Steve, W4DTA
