[h=2]What is "NARL FEST?"[/h]NARL FEST is a one-day annual event held by the Newington Amateur Radio League, a special-service non-profit club. NOTE: This is NOT the national ham association, ARRL, known otherwise as "The League."
NARL is a regional club supported by members dues and the proceeds from this event, just like your home town's local repeater club. Its officers are all volunteers, there is no paid staff and no clubhouse. NARL rents a meeting room on the first Monday of each month at the Newington Senior Center and its W1OKY and W1AW VHF and UHF repeaters are located atop Cedarcrest Hospital.
The NARL club performs public service for the town of Newington and around the Connecticut Capitol Region.
The NARL FEST also provides a convenient place for hams to see, buy, and sell both new and used items related to the hobby such as radios, antennas, accessories, electronics, components, software, clothing, ID items, batteries, etc, as well as items of interest to spouses and families of the attending hams.
The NARL FEST is traditionally held the Saturday before the ARRL's national FIELD DAY, which is the fourth full weekend of June each year. (For 2015, Field Day is June 27-28) This gives local hams one last opportunity to pick up accessories they'll need to complete their stations for field day.
