I always thought the above was always true... but I found out "not always".

All my previous digital work has been mainly on the IC-756ProIII and lately with the IC-718. Neither are hooked up for digital work at the moment.

OK... playing with a IC-703 which I just acquired and I'm using the 13 pin ACC jack on the back and USB-D for mode. But the volume control (AF Gain) on this rig definitely effects/affects the data port. Turn the volume down, there goes the signal.... no more decoding. I don't remember my 756 doing this... so I guess I'm going to have to connect it backup to HRD to see if behaves this way and I just didn't notice it before.

All this came about when I was helping a local ham get his signalink hooked up to his TS-2000 and he mentioned the volume problem on it (that he had to crank it up even after his adjustments via Windows Sound properties and his SignaLink).

Anyone else had this happen or offer any suggestions?
