Are the Motorola M1225 and the SM50 able to work on the 2M band, repeater tones? I have 2 1225's and a SM50 would like to try to use one of them in my concrete mixer truck since most 2m radio's can't take that kind of abuse.

    Thanks for the replies

    Mike -

The 'repeater tones' are CTCSS (or PL, Motorola trademark) were used in Land Mobile Service (LMR) since the 1950s.
The Radius M1225 and SM50 are designed for the LMR market segment (and FCC approval) and have that ability as well as newer DCS encoding/decoding.
BTW, the M1225 is a discontinued model.

You will need the programming software (or have your Motorola dealer set-up).

they should work fine.. I have programmed several with no trouble. The software is kinda pricey, but if you have a local dealer they usually will do it for around $25-$30.
