My dad was one of the designers of the XC-142. I thought the last of the films had been found in the late 1960s, but these keep showing up. I was just a lil' toddler when this first flew at Moffett Field. It never got into full production, however, mainly because of Viet Nam. Timing is everything...and the time just wasn't right. Alas.
Hats off to all test pilots, every second could be their last when lifting off in an unproven design.
The newst tilt over (something) aircraft. The Bell V-280 - an Army program and at 1/3 cost of the V-22. looks to be a replacement/upgrade for the Blackhawk.
