Would anyone know how to add a Communications Specialists SS-64 CTCSS encoder to a Magnum 257 10 Meter radio.
    Thanks for any help.

Connect it to the audio line.

Actually, in that rig, that won't work.

However connecting the output of the SS-64 to the center (wiper) terminal of RV3, the deviation control, should work. If you just tap into the "audio line" (like where the microphone goes), the very small value coupling cap there will roll off the CTCSS modulation frequencies which are all below 300 Hz.

Or, if the tone is input into the microphone circuit, the CTCSS tone can cause extreme distortion in the audio if the level is turned high enough to get enough tone on the transmitted signal.

As WIK stated, the correct place to insert the tone is on the wiper of the deviation control.
