I was in the process of purchasing a FT2000 here
on QRZ when I got an email from a guy with the
call K4ZNO John Wellford using the email of
    k4zno@outlook.com

He offered me a FT2000 for $1100 shipped.

I quickly checked QRZ Ham to Ham Reference and
I saw where this call K4ZNO and the exact email
    was used in other SCAM's.

I emailed him back and told him what I found of
QRZ and maybe I should call the authorities!

    He NEVER answered my email...Hmmm

BEWARE BEWARE of K4ZNO trying to sell you
    anything.

Thank You QRZ (again) for having such an amazing
site to help protect all our brother Ham Operators.

I am K4ZNO. I have had two hams in the last two weeks contact me about scams. I am not selling anything right now. My email is in QRZ. Please let me know if you have questions.

I just looked and your email is not on your bio page. The scammers look for QRZ listings without emails so they can masquerade as you with an email of their choosing. You need to add an email to your bio page.

You said you had your email on QRZ. But remember there are two separate emails, the one you show publicly on your bio page and one you registered with on QRZ. (They should be different for obvious reasons. )

You need to put a "Warning Message" on your bio page. This is the first place people will look after seeing an add. You can use this one if you like. Just add it to your bio page as a picture.

Wow, I'm so glad for this QRZ page. I placed a wanted ad for a YT-847 and received a message right away from K4ZNO. Looked suspicious, and I tried to verify e-mail via QRZ. Then I checked this page.
I'm taking my wanted down. Not worth the hassle with scammers.

Indeed, I did not have the public one listed. I have updated it. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I will add a warning when I get to my desktop.

Ok, I was able to update my page as well with a notice about the scammers. I have already had another ham email me since I updated my email address on Sat night. Please report these as phishing scams to your email provider.
