    James M. (Jim) Reid passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at home surrounded by family.
    He was born on June 27, 1929 in Schenectady, New York to Eugene H. and Ruby L. Reid, both members of Greer County Pioneers in Oklahoma.
    James graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady, NY. In 1952, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and joined Dowell, a division of Dow Chemical, and worked in Illinois, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas.

    In 1963, he moved to Midland, Texas. He started a wireline company, Perfojet Services, in 1965 with partner John M. Wilson. They started Big Chief Well Servicing in 1976. Jim retired in 1980. He then worked in the communications field as a contactor in the Midland area for several years.

    In 1947, James became a licensed Ham Radio Operator and held many offices in Radio Clubs in Tulsa and Norman, Oklahoma and in Midland. He served during many emergencies, including tornados in Norman, Oklahoma and Balmorhea, Texas, and two severe floods during his time in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
    He also did communications with the American Red Cross for many years.
    James married Carol Plew Reid, his wife of 45 years, on September 6, 1970 in Midland. This was a special date as it was the anniversary of his parents also. He was a long-time member of the Methodist Church. He became a licensed pilot in 1969, and enjoyed many flights and the small aircraft community of pilots and families.

    James is survived by his wife, Carol of Midland; daughters, Leslie (Kelin) Jones of Monahans, Texas, and Cindy (Tom) Payne of Benton, Louisiana; grandchildren Joshua (Grace) Jones of Midland, Jared Jones of Midland, and Katey and Thomas Payne of Benton; great grandchildren, Alex, Ryan, and Jack Jones of Midland; brother, Robert Reid of Cincinnati, Ohio; as well as many cousins, friends, and family members. Last, but not least, he is survived by his "almost son," Brett (Jennifer) Marshall and children Roger, Emma, and Jaxson Marshall of Haslet, Texas.

    The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland.

    Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Altus City Cemetery in Altus, Oklahoma.
