    hi over the years the back lighting on the rig has failed one ( led?) at a time. the last one (there are 3) failed recently.does anyone have any information on a suitable replacement ?. 73 de EI5EV.

    Those appear to be incandescent lamps. The IC-275 used the same lamp. They are the HRS-7219A Y2 30.
    Haven't got a clue who has them but Icom did use this in many other units and they may still have some in stock. You can also try replacing them with the LED. In order to do this you would need to find the type of LED you want, size, color, brightness, are all things you can select. You will have to use a series dropping resistor so you don't pop the LEDs right away. The LED modification will make the life of the front panel lights longer then the rig will last. That is if you do it correctly.
    To do the changes you may need the service manual. It's available from; http://elektrotanya.com/cgi-bin/download2.cgi. When you bring up this page you will have to scroll down about 1/2 to 3/4 of the page and wait for the little "Get Manual" to show up. It'll be just below the really hugh "Download Now" green icon (don't press this one. It won't load the manual you want).
