    I like the STARS initialism and the star mnemonic for the 5 points.
    Also, "Amateur space comms", might be better if it was just shortened to "Space Communications".
    Although the ITU categorizes it as "Amateur Satellite", we should now be aware that there are non-orbital, (hence, non-satellite) space missions that may include Amateur Radio Service operations. Space comms with robotic or human missions to other planets, or to interplanetary space may be feasible in the near future for Amateur Radio.

    Agreed, considerable leverage ought to be possible with regulators regarding reservation for and protection of the quickly advancing AmSat Services or other aeronautical applications of the ARS.

    To keep the "A" alliteration for the STARS acronym, how 'bout making that point Aerospace Communications.

    That way it is also inclusive to other growing applications within or allied with ARS that are near-space, ie, amateur / academic-science balloons, aerostats, drones.

    In spectrum or diplo parlance, "Aerospace" usually means military or commercial industry in air and space.
    Amateur Radio Service may want to avoid association with that word... especially when French "Aerospace" were the ones who tried to glom the 2 meter band.

    :( ... Or perhaps its overdue for the IARU to take back that high ground, further assert themselves and remind the public we radio amateurs are true pioneers in the aerospace field. Who in 1961 successfully developed and operated the world's first private non-government spacecraft. Many years ahead of the French government; gee, even Canada beat them! :rolleyes:

    An event that stimulated support from yet another future POTUS, whose words underline the reason why spectrum managers today still ought to give amateurs due respect;

    "United States vice president, Lyndon B. Johnson, honored it (Oscar 1) with a congratulatory telegram to the group sponsoring this momentous event in the history of Amateur Radio. It read: “For me this project is symbolic of the type of freedom for which this country stands — freedom of enterprise and freedom of participation on the part of individuals throughout the world." :D

    FDR was a Man of Action, who knew how to delegate. For example: After he received the famous Einstein Letter, General Leslie Groves and the Manhattan Engineer District were born. No matter if your Politics Differ with FDR, he MUST be given credit for his Management Skills. I often wonder how would things be now, if he wasn't in office when he was: The Right Man, in the Right Office, in the Right Country, at the Right Time.

    Also, Please let's not let the A-Clown action of a Corporation (Thales) reflect on the French Ham Community- they are great hams!
