I have a Kenwood TS530sp. It shows 180 watts out on cw and only 20 watts out on 20 meters

    Yes, but with a continuous whistle you SHOULD see the same power output as you are getting on CW !

    And I think you know that (which is why you suggested it.)

    If you're NOT, then there IS something wrong with the rig on SSB.

    You should ID if you do.

    Some of the first repeaters were Whistle Up. That was before Tone Burst and PL.

    I think Roger may be old school like me. :)
