    Greetings Again Brain Trust,
I have a Heathkit HW-2036 2mtr mobile.I have the book on it and I need to set the PL on it. I don't have a freq. counter to do this. Any ideas?
                                     Thanks 73, KG6OPR [IMG]

Ummmmmm . . . to the best of my recollection, the HW2036 did not have a CTCSS encoder.

If I'm wrong, I'll stand corrected.

I think in this case PL refers to "phase lock", not tones. I remember setting that on my 2036 many moons ago, seems like it was a simple adjustment that kept the PLL locked. Sorry I can't remember more, but it was described quite well in the manual.

    Thanks to all.
After a few hours of playing with it I got the PL tones up and running. And Thanks go out to Walt, W5ALT for all his input. One thing about it Heathkits Mic's are just plain ugly.

    Harry -

"PL" - Private Line [Motorola trademark for CTCSS]

PL is not the same as "TouchTone" [Western Electric/AT&T trademark]

    "PLL" - Phase Lock Loop
