    Hi ya'all,
Wonndering if someone can help me out.
I have downloaded the hamscope freeware and cannot find out how to
to get the cw automatic transmission to start.
    The rig I have is:
    FT 847
    Radio interface MFJ 1275
Null modem with USB to Pc
    PC Pentium 4
I checked in the new Prt Com on the hamscope.
RX works fine, but TX won't start.http://forums.qrz.com/images/icons/icon5.gif

How is the computer keying the rig?

TO KY5U Thanks answering. To answer your question, I presume that the hamscope
programme should be keying the rig, through the sound card interface abd the USB null modem 232 connected to the CAT of the FT 847. 73's f8dwq

I don't think your rig will key up from CAT. I think you need to have a connection to another serial (or parallel) port to key the rig.

I am not sure if this is what you mean, but to insert a CW ID that will be sent at the end of a macro, all you have to do is edit the macro to include the following :

exactly as shown in the line above. That way, no matter what mode you are using, a CW ID will be sent. This comes out as audio from the soundcard, so you do not have to have any additional commands to switch to CW or anything like that. It is just attached to the end of the preceeding audio stream.

That what you are looking for ?

    thanks for answering.
Ryan, I am not sure either about connecting the CAT to the PC via a null
modem r232 and a USB, but this is what the instructions called for, and I
have a new serial port, but I can only transmit with my Keyer, not with
the macros which normally should permit me to brag a little when I dump
into real machine gun type OM's. Seems I am stuck somewhere in the
comprehension of the system. I still feel like a rookie.
JIM, the <CWID> is set in the macros, but like all others, I cannot get
    it to be transceived.
    Thanks, F8DWQ René

    Hello Rene,

Does it transmit when you use VOX? I know it is not the preferred set-up but worth a try.

Rene' , I am not sure I understand if you understand how the soundcard is used to send data using hamscope. Every mode, including CW is generated as a tone by the soundcard, and sent to the transmitter's audio input ( microphone or back panel connection ). The rig is placed in the LSB or USB mode to send the tones. Therefore, text from the keyboard, or a macro, can be sent in CW by simply typing the letters to send the Morse equivalent, or pressing a function key to send a "macro", which is simply a string of letters saved as a text file by the program, and called up from a single function keystroke.

I would think you already knew this, but just wanted to check it out with you.

There may be a way to key the actual CW mode of your transmitter, but I am not familiar with it, as I do all the different modes by sending tones from the soundcard to the transmitter in either LSB or USB mode!

    Hope this helps! 73, Jim
