Mike, there actually is incentive to work a dxpedition on multiple bands and modes. There is CW only DXCC, Phone only, 5Band DXCC, ect. I currently run a very modest station consisting of a K3 and a some wires in the trees. I think the EP dxpedition was the only one in recent history I failed to work. That was mostly due to high noise levels on their end.
I do think it's inappropriate to dupe the dx station on bands and modes you've already worked them on. That truly is unfair to those needing it for an ATNO whether they be a little pistol or a big gun.

Agreed.

I won't begrudge anyone working the big DXpeditions on bands and modes they need them on, unless/until the DXpedition team requests otherwise. (E.g., I like that some DXpeditions reserve time late for ATNO's, and at least one put out the call "please work us only once...")

Thanks all for helping to clear some of this up. I got my license in June and my General in October so now that the DX season is officialy on, every expedition is an ATNO for me. I have figured out that to get ahead of the pileups I need to be very quick to find and make contact before the beams are swung around and the amps tuned up. In a certain respect that is more fun
than spinning around my 11 element monobander on my 199 foot tower and firing up the good old Pile Driver 6000 amp, hi!!
