Jeri Ellsworth, co-founder of the Augmented Reality company castAR (among many, many other things) has added ham radio to her list of accomplishments. She's now AI6TK. We spotted her at the Dayton Hamvention this year (AmateurLogic TV snagged the interview). And she just attended the ARRL/TAPR DCC in St. Louis with her friend Amy Herndon KM6FZE. Over the past year, Jeri and Amy have jumped into ham radio with both feet, but even for these technically accomplished women, ham radio had a steep learning curve. We'll talk about that and lots more in this quick hour. LISTEN/DOWNLOAD AUDIO
Yeah conversation rather of up and down; meaning not sure the point of the interview? No well-focused direction of topic(s). Too long too. Audio was great! But fun I'm sure. Well Jeri and Amy see you at Pacificon! Jesse- KK6PKN
So I was there when this was recorded, and am some of the 'packing up' noise in the background. They are important because 1) they are influencers, even if you haven't heard of them, and 2) they are women in amateur radio. There are a significant number of young women who follow these two.
Don't let these negative comments from other posters get you down, Jeri!! You should be very proud of your accomplishments! Remember the same negativism from detractors were uttered about Edison and Tesla when they were conducting their many experiments with electricity and devices powered by it. It is important that young people follow in your footsteps and explore the "unknown, uncharted" area of electronics. Good luck and best wishes! @AI6TK 73, Dan W2AI (artificial intelligence)
That's too bad. It takes ALOT of money these days for R&D. And I'm sure that Palo Alto is not a cheap place for rent either. ...DOUG KD4MOJ
It was a really sad chain of events that caused the castAR crisis. It's so over the top the writers of Silicon Valley wouldn't believe it.
Every hobby, every profession has it's diamonds as well as it's turds. I've followed some of your activity on Youtube Jeri, and you are definitely a diamond!
This board is full of old curmudgeons who hate everything. You might find the folks over at /r/amateurradio/ are much more welcoming to the under 70 crowd.
