Pat Ryan writes " Radio Amateur Hamfest - The largest and oldest Radio Amateur Hamfest and Computer Show in the area is Sunday, June 3, 2001, at the BUREAU COUNTY Fairgrounds - Princeton, IL. This annual public event, sponsored by the Starved Rock Radio Club, is hosted and supported by area radio amateurs and friends from all over the midwest.

The hamfest features exhibits, vendors and a computer and electronics flea market revolving around the art of Amateur Radio. Notables invited include the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Central Division Director, and the ARRL is the national organization for amateur radio.

Unique to hamfests is the use of wireless talk-in for licensed radio amateurs on the Red Covered Bridge amateur radio repeater, which in Ham jargon is on 146.955 Mhz output, with a -600 KHz negative offset for the input, and a subaudible tone PL of 103.5 Hz.

More details can be found at the SRRC hamfest web page at http://www.qsl.net/w9mks/hamfest.htm or various posters at area businesses. Tickets available at the gate, and breakfast and lunch served by the BUREAU COUNTY 4-H CLUBS, Breakfast- 6:00 to 10:00 AM, LUNCH - 10:00 AM TO 2:00 PM."
