The National Geographic has produced A Guide to Ham Radio to support its recently released digital short, Before MARS — a prequel to its upcoming MARS series. The 33-minute prequel, which has a heavy Amateur Radio theme, provides the back story of two principal characters in the upcoming MARS global event series. In the prequel, twin teenaged sisters Hana and Joon Seung are the new kids in town, after their single mother relocates. I watched it and very good show. I especially liked in the beginning when she said it was illegal to transmit without a license. With that being said, both girls did just that, and the older ham talked with them too. Didn't upset me and start yelling about illegal activity. Nice job with the show, well worth watching.
nver seen a radio like that one. nice story but a little hard to believe. still good to see ham radio in a movie
I think it's a grundig receiver with a patched on motorola mic. 144.49mhz is a 2m freq, looks like a 440 antenna. I'll be staying tuned for the start on 11-14.
