this morning i got off the bus sooner so i could have a longer bike ride.
from a distance i saw a man walking a very large dog and it had a
    rucksack on it.
when i got close i realised it was a goat. i was delighted.

i asked whether i could take fotos and the man (not the goat. the goat
didn't seem to mind) said yes.

i asked the story and was told he is doing a walk across america,
raising funds for an orphanage in kenya.

mmm, maybe, but the whole goat thing fascinated me and i gave him
$5 anyway. it was worth it just for the goat.

they are steve and leroy brown.
    steve is the man.

i sent the pics and an email out and a former supervisor replied saying she had seen them on her way to work.

I wonder if he "cleans up" after Leroy.

Or maybe Leroy is leaving a "trial" so Steve can find his way back?

    Goats are cool!
My ex back door neighbor moved to a small farm and raises goats. Visiting him last fall, I was amazed at all the personalty's they had.
Also watched the goat videos on you tube with interest. If you want to do SOTA, take a goat.

Seems to me there used to be a ham here on the Zed who had a pen full of goats in his yard and a live goat cam feed on a website. Right?

Everyone who has ever worked in a corporate setting has seen the one person in the office who never gets in trouble, gets away with virtual murder and always gets accolades and promotions for doing nothing. When a newer employee notices this and asks an older employee about it, the conversation usually goes like this:

Newbie: "What's up with Smith? He doesn't know jack, doesn't do anything and takes a lot of time off. How did he get promoted over several guys with more smarts, ability, and seniority?"

    Old-timer: "He has pictures."

    Newbie: "Pictures?"

    Old-timer: "Yeah...pictures of the Big Boss *&^%$$#@ a goat!"

    Sorry...just couldn't resist telling that story :)

What and admirable enterprise and what a charming walking companion!

I have always liked goats, especially for their wide ranging choice of snacks and tit bits.

I once knew a billie goat. When in season, you could smell him half a mile away. Lord knows what effect this had on lady goats.

You probably don't want to know what he did to make himself smell that way. They do it to attract the nannies.

The one thing you don't want to do is park your car where there are goats -- they will climb all over the car and play king-of-the-hill.

The most famous goat(s) were Clay Henry, et al. The beer-drinking mayor of Lajitas, Texas.

Yeah, the billygoats p** on their beards. We had one for a number of years at our shop -- he once ate a blue tarp, and he would smoke / eat lit cigarettes. He was raised with dogs, lived in a doghouse, ate dogfood, and played chase like a dog. Heaven forbid if you ever bent over near him.

it sure liked the taste of the potentilla bushes, even though not yet blossomed.
and the grass was wet, so it was happy.

Goat is a popular dish in Argentina. Done right on a grill, it is delicious meat.
