    We regret to announce the passing of long time MARC member George Tonsmeire, W4LT. The following is the obituary from the Mobile Register:

    Mr. George Augustus Tonsmeire -- a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL died on Friday, February 18, 2005 at a local hospital. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Mr. Tonsmeire was a graduate of McGill Institute, attended LSU and graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law. He was the District Attorney before starting his law practice, has been practicing law in Mobile for 30 years. Mr. Tonsmeire was an avid sportsman and was an avid HAM radio operator. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Augustus Tonsmeire, Sr. and Doris Greenwood Tonsmeire. He was a beloved father and loving and devoted husband. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mrs. Karen A. Tonsmeire of Mobile; daughters, Rachael Tonsmeire (Rick) Starnes of Columbia, S.C., Tegan Ann Tonsmeire of Mobile, Tracey Margaret Tonsmeire of Mobile; brother, William G. Tonsmeire of Mobile; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many wonderful friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 21, 2005 at 12:00 Noon from St. Mary Catholic Church. Family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10:30 AM until funeral service time. Interment will be in Old Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36606.
