The FCC isn't concerned with DXing or how radio hobbyists will be impacted.

Digital AM radio? This idea sounds like "internet via radio" - there are thousands (millions?) of producers of digital content available as "broadcasts" and "on demand" via the web now ... very soon it'll be hard to find a "radio" in a new automobile as the dash radio gets displaced (and eventually replaced entirely) by the integrated NAV-comm-entertainment digital dashboard content delivery system.

Radio as we've known it - analog - will eventually be completely gone. Welcome to the golden age of digital.

Real radio is magical, even with the QSB, static crashes and all of its limitations - it will be a sad day when they pull the plug for good.

Pardon my stupidity but theres already Digital AM its called HDradio and it makes a mess of DX already.
Here in NYC area we have many HD radio stations on FM and AM.
Anyone remember the first AM stereo back in the late 70s ?
They would need to come out with yet another converter for Digtal Am..........
Please make it sound better than XM, Sirius, and HD radio if they do it! Stereo and 320kbps at least!
Turn the Am band over to hams!
Get rid of AM stations and move those AM stations to FM channels with less power on adjacent channels= best idea here in the NYC area. AM has no future, its past its prime.
