I'm sorry to report that Emmett "Ed" Brooks', W5HTW, death last Friday (12/31/2010).

Ed was a regular poster on QRZ and will be missed.

Don't have all the details just passing along that Ed became an (SK).

There is a lengthy thread about Ed's passing here in Rag Chew from a week ago:

    http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?t=277610

He passed away on 12/17/2010--it took a week for the news to filter to our boards here.

This posting is being moved to the SK/Friends Remembered board.

Ed will be missed here on QRZ.COM

    Thanks Pat

Sorry I missed the post and set up a duplicate. If you want, delete this thread.

Appreciate moving it to another forum.

Since that thread started before Christmas, I see no point to deleting this one, though he may have still been alive when the other one started. A tragic loss to the site, whenever he may have died.

Yes, we need to have an "official" notice here in this board for searching. So, thanks for posting and speeding that along.

Yes Ed has left a wonderful contribution of posts to The Zed. He indeed will be missed by many of us.

The positive contributions that Ed "Chop" Brooks made to the amatuer radio hobby over the past 54 years and the QRZ community will be missed.
