EchoStation 2.0 Released

EchoStation is a complete PC-based repeater-control software package, which can also be used as an "announcement machine" for airing scheduled announcements on an existing repeater. The program runs on PCs running Windows 95 or above with a sound card.




New features in the 2.0 release include forward and reverse autopatch, DTMF control functions, and speech synthesis. The program runs in any of four different modes: Repeater, Simplex Repeater, Simplex Autopatch, and Announcement Machine.



Since nearly all functions are performed in software, the program requires a minimum of external equipment -- typically, an FM transceiver and a simple push-to-talk interface.



EchoStation has been used successfully for club-meeting announcements, SKYWARN net bulletins, ARRL Audio News programs, and fixed and portable repeater set-ups.
