    Still get a dummy load that can handle your present or future amplifiers. Heathkit Cantennas can be had for under $50 at many ham swaps. It will help remove any variables in the future.

    FYI here,

    I was on 40 meters a few days ago and there was a station from Austria on. It was around 2300Z. There was a pileup. Not a huge pileup, but a pileup nonetheless. So I flipped on the 811H, gave the station from Austria a call, and wala, he came back to me. Right in the middle of the pileup I got through to him!

    Was a nice moment..:)
