    ALBANY Donald W. Bulger, Sr., 95 passed away peacefully on Sunday April 17, 2016, at Albany Memorial Hospital.

    Donald was a lifelong resident of the South End of Albany and the only child of William and Mary (Feeney) Bulger. He graduated from CBA in 1939 and Siena College in 1943 with a degree in electrical engineering.
    Donald served in the European Theatre of World War II as an Aerographer Mate 2nd class in the U.S. Navy. He was awarded the Victory and Good Conduct medals being honorably discharged on December 17, 1945.

    He enjoyed volunteering onboard the USS Slater and working on getting the radio room up and running again. He was also a volunteer for the Weather Bureau helping gather weather data.
    Donald was a ham radio operator (WB2VJC) and a member of the Schenectady Amateur Radio Association for over 30 years.
    He retired from General Electric Research and Development Center in 1983 after working there 43 years.

    Donald enjoyed many vacations with his family which included trips to the Outer Banks, N.C. and camping in the Adirdonacks. His hobby was painting and his family enjoyed many of his oil and water color paintings of lighthouses and coastlines in North Carolina and Maine.


    He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Harriet (Pembleton) Bulger; four children, Donald W. (Sally) Bulger, Louise Lennon, Karen Becker and Dennis (Rose) Bulger; grandchildren, William Bulger, Deanna Carras, Donna Silvernail, John Lennon, Patrick Lennon, Peter Lennon, Michael Becker, Michael Bulger, Christine McCourt, Richard Bulger and Kimberly Bulger.
    He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and Sir Peanut Butter and Jelly his four legged companion affectionately known as Peanut.

    A Funeral service will be held Friday, April 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave. Albany.

    Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also visit with his family prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home.

    Interment will follow the service in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
