    David Laurin Laveck, 73, of Tinley Park, IL and recent resident of Ashland, VA passed away on June 25, 2019 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA.
    He was born in Ashtabula, OH on April 15, 1946 to Joseph and Rene (Larson) Laveck. He graduated from Harbor High School in Ashtabula, OH and Kent State University in Kent, OH. Dave was united in marriage to Brenda Hendrickson on December 28, 1974 at First Lutheran Church in Buhl, MN.

    He taught History and Government at Edgewood Senior High School in North Kingsville, OH and was the Regional Director of the Saint Lawrence Seaway during the Reagan Administration. Dave retired from Law Enforcement after serving with departments in Elwood, IL and Orland Hills, IL.

    He was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Tinley Park, IL. Dave was the Master of Oak Forest Lodge #832 AF & AM in Oak Forest, IL. He was also a past master of Triune Lodge #44 AF & AM and Palace Lodge #765 AF & AM in Lansing, IL. He was an avid amateur ham radio operator for many years and spoke with friends around the world. Dave was a friend to many and was well loved by his close friends. Most of all, Dave enjoyed spending time with his family-especially his grandchildren who knew him as their “pups.”

    He is survived by his wife, Brenda L. of Ashland, VA; daughters, Lori H. Jadin (Jason), of Manhattan, IL and Lisa M. Oetken (Kyle) of Ashland, VA; five grandchildren, Ashleigh L. Jadin, Avery L. Jadin, Greyson M. Jadin, Dylan J. Oetken, and Ella R. Oetken; and his brother, Peter J. Laveck Sr. of Ashtabula, OH.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. B. Laveck and Rene V. Laveck of Ashtabula, OH and his parents-in-law, Oliver R. Hendrickson and Helen A. Hendrickson of Kinney, MN; and his faithful dog, Ernie. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

    Visitation with the family present will be on Sunday, June 30 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Oak Forest Masonic Lodge, 15470 S. Oak Park Ave, Oak Forest, IL. A Masonic service will begin at 4:00 PM. A memorial mass will be conducted at St George Catholic Church, 6707 175th St, Tinley Park, IL on Monday, July 1 at 10:00 AM.

    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the 100 Club of Chicago (100clubchicago.org) or the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
