Cuban radio amateur Eduardo Somoano CO8LY has made more than 60000, yes, sixty thousand FT8 contacts, and requested applications for many awards and diplomas using the log of his FT8 contacts..

This may be a Guinness Record of a single radio amateur receiving via e-mail more than 220 awards and diplomas, and more are coming, More to follow

How about making 60000 contacts on 2-meters? It would be a bigger accomplishment and it might help the 2-meter 'reallocation' situation through usage of the band.

So just curious.... did you make any new friends with those 60000 contacts?

IMO FT-8 is a fad. It will eventually go the way of all those other unused digital modes. As soon as something else comes along to occupy the minds of Amateurs FT-8 will also fall to the way side. After a while the voice modes will come back in vogue again and FT-8 will be almost forgotten. It will be referred to as a 'legacy mode.'
