    Good deal.

Problem is, I promised myself I'd get ten of them with sequential serial numbers, so this only fulfills 1/10th of the fantasy.

And the funny part is a 2B for $250 or so is probably a better receiver, at least for hamming.

oh yes, I know all about it. $6900 greenbacks and it could be sitting on my desk right now. Brings me to Tears! That is a nice one, and the seller knows just how much they are worth. Plenty of people are bidding, it is up to $5449 with reserve NOT met, so his reserve is probably close to his buyitnow. No one is getting it until it passes the Reserve level. But there are plenty of INCREDIBLY RICH people in the world who can drop that kind of coin at the drop of a Hat. The owner of my company is just so. He lives in a multi-billion dollar mansion in Rancho Santa Fe, so a mere $7K is chunk change for him. Plenty of Ultra Rich up in Beverly Hills too. $7000???? OH, they spend that daily on LUNCH, having the finest Caviar flown in from Moscow so it is fresh, and Excellent MAHI MAHI caught especially for them down off of Tahiti. They probably LOSE $7K in the casinos every night. Notta Problem for them.

But for me, I could take a 2nd mortgage out on my house, and then SELL MY SOUL TO THE DEVIL, and STILL not be anywhere near the $7K!

But I have an original Manual to a SX-88! That is fun to look at.

Some day, I will come across someone who will actually let me SEE and TOUCH one.

Then I can die in peace.

Yeah, Steve, but a 1A is more collectable !

    And a better receiver, too.

I have many radios FAR RARER than an SX-88, but rare doesn't matter in money. Probably my rarest set is the early 30s Silvertone 5 meter radio. Doubt there is another of those left on the Planet! And I won that for only about $30 on Ebay! SX-88s go for so much money just so folks can say they PAID that much money for one. If they paid $25 for it, like I did my SX-42, who would care? But when they tell someone they dropped SEVEN THOUSAND on an old radio, that gets their Attention!!

A 1A better than a 2B? I don't know about that Bill, don't get me wrong the 1A was one of the most innovative designs ever but the 2b takes it a few step further in selectivity.

I was going to buy that SX-88 but he only ships to U.S.A. :(

Maybe I could get it shipped to Pat and he could bring it to Dayton where I could meet him and pick it up?

Maybe, but shipping to CA is quoted at $100! And considering how heavy it is, the UPS or Post Office would be quite angered and really toss it around, so there wouldn't be a good tube or knob left on it. Those shipping folks are just SADISTIC when it comes to packages. The Town Car trunk will be EMPTY Eastbound, though. I have plenty of packing that would keep it well safe on the way. I save every plastic sack I get my newspapers in, and make very comfy cushioning pillows that can be put under, around and above any transport items. Even the heavy Heathkit TX-1 arrived in perfect condx from Yuma thanks to these bag pillows. It keeps the trunk very full, but they are lifesavers when it comes to carrying very valuable items like radios. And, if times get hard, I can use them as Pillows inside the TC Cab! So, no problem on anyone who wants stuff transported EASTBOUND. Returning, though, the TC Trunk will be FULL to the GILLS so no chance I can bring anything back West for anyone. Even the back seat will be filled. I might be able to transport a few PL-259s but thats about it.
