As you probably know, there are currently 3 levels of licensing associated with Amateur Radio here in the U.S. All can be obtained by passing multiple choice test, and the answers are available beforehand. So yes, it is possible. Most people that use common sense and not emotion when thinking about the associated 'outrage' in being able to get the highest level of license by just memorizing the answers and not picking up much of the knowledge as you do so will admit that this is not good, but with that come up with something like this... You should be able to get on the air in a basic way with basic privileges by showing basic knowledge of radio...but not necessarily of electrical components. From there, the knowledge requirements should increase accordingly. The highest privilege, or at least access to certain frequencies, should be reserved for those that...well, deserve it. This is where the current hurt feelings come from....and from knowing that the FCC has thrown 70 year old 20 wpm radio demi-gods under the bus. But, being sore and throwing out reason is not the answer either. Rant paused.
I believe it is end of life for this kit. They are now focusing on their Arduino development products. For now, that is the only thing they will be offering.
The fuse does not need to be in the holder for the led to light. Pulling the fuse is like having a blown one. The load has to be connected for the led to light for an open fuse.
Why would the Gold Band on a resistor need to be installed in one particular direction? That makes no sense, the resistance is the same regardless which direction it is installed.
Hardly anybody ever does. Most people read the first post, then reply to that, ignoring everything that followed. Many others skip to the last page, and reply to that. Anything in the middle doesn't matter.
