Should certain ham radio vendors (such as Ham Radio Outlet and Amateur Electronic Supply) include Bill Me Later as a payment option?

    Isn't that called Visa?

No, in fact it's actually called "Bill Me Later", which is a PayPal service. I use it all the time whenever I buy things from B&H Photo and Video in NYC. Usually, their "Bill Me Later" deal is no payments for 90 days on orders over $250, and no payments for 6 months on orders over $750.

I think if there is a need to sell radios some of the retailers will adopt BML.

I'd vote for a "BMN" option (Bill Me Never).

Which box do I check for that?

Not paying for something at the time you 'buy' it, leads ultimately to a financial spiral. It enhances a belief in the non-availability of funds. which is never a 'good' thing. I seldom rely even on my credit cards, if I can avoid it.

I've used it before for a couple purchases. All paid off with no intrest. Handy program.

I think they charge intrest is you don't pay it off within a certain time. Obviously, you don't let that happen or the program has no value.

Sorry, but that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Could you explain how that works?

That's really great and everything ... good for you ... but you really need to understand - not everybody is in the exact same situation as you claim to be in. Not that it's any of your business, but right now all of my credit cards are also at $0.00 (and my credit score right now is at 831, which allowed me to get a kick-ass financing rate on a brand new car recently).

However, many times whenever I decide to use BML, I usually have a pretty damn good reason for using it. I have a videography business, so whenever I'm buying new equipment, I use Bill Me Later to pay it off over time (since I can't afford to pay it all at once at the time of purchase). This works out just fine for me - if it weren't for BML, I'd be out of business plain and simple.

"Bill Me Later" is not a credit card. As I've stated before, I've used it with purchases from other vendors, and it has been working just fine for me. All other vendors for my other "hobbies" do it (Musician's Friend, B&H Photo and Video, Continental name a few). I don't think that I quite understand what the issue would be if companies such as Ham Radio Outlet, Amateur Electronic Supply, and Gigaparts (for example) would also use it. If they did, they'd probably get a lot more business... and yes, they would certainly sell a LOT more ham radios.

Bottom line....Bill Me Later is awesome - don't knock it until you've tried it.

If a company accepts Paypal, like we do, then Bill me Later is an option on checkout at Paypal. (If you have it linked from your paypal account).

I'm going to do some research this morning on direct Bill me Later. It would be just another merchant account, like ours we use to take credit cards. Maybe the fees are different than a regular merchant account, and that's why some companies havent moved to it, or that they just dont generate the level of revenue to qualify for it!

Pure entertainment, that's what it is!

    Thanks for the chuckle.

Just the title of your post made me laugh out loud!

    I'm still laughing!

I have to ask: do you really know and understand our brethren?

As a group, hams are some of the most tight-fisted, bargain-hunting, horse traders on the face of the planet!

    Bill me later?

Bill me never is more like it!

Although I must admit that so far not to many are in favor of the idea, so maybe there's hope for us after all!

73 and thanks for the chuckle...
