That was exactly what I was seeing...I know because I participated. :)

Well, people are back at work this morning, it's vacation time, etc. Frankly, it is no different than any other solar minimum I've seen over the decades I've been a ham.

Contests do bring out a lot of activity, even contests closely spaced together. But I have yet to find an afternoon when I couldn't have a nice CW ragchew on 40. ;)

First I'll admit I didn't read through the 3 pages of replies, but...........

Sporadic-E has been happening just about every day on 10 meters for the last month and a half. I worked a couple of Europeans on SSB 10 meters last Friday and 6 stateside on Saturday night. I use dipole with 100w.

It's amazing what happens when you call CQ 10 meters around 28.4mhz for 15 minutes with a voice keyer on a "dead band"!

once again, a big contest proved that the bands are open. Don't believe the 'dead bands' tripe.

Which bands are you talking about?

What do you consider "good conditions"?

Thanks so much to all those that replied to my post. There is so much good info out there. I listen mostly on 20 during daytime hours and look for stations early morning. I do hear some but just seemed like the bands are slow to come back. Impatience on my part, Ha. Thanks again to all. Best to everyone. Ken, K5GI

Everyone lied to you, band conditions stink, they stink like dead fish on a radiator. Give up, it is useless to even try. :(

There, now you have a dissenting opinion.:)

You should try being an HF operator in Alaska above the 60th parallel.

The 46th has it's idiosyncratic properties as well.
