    Hi folks,

I'm kind of new at this, but any ideas whether I have this "un-amplified" D-104 wired correctly for use with a Heathkit HW-101 ? I'd like to make sure it's correct before I just key it up.

As a mechanical engineer I should stick to firearms and steam engines - but with HF radio I can't help but get my hand in. Thanks for the help ! [IMG]

White is audio + and shield is audio -
Isnt there only 2 connections on a HW-101?...
Is there a switched marked Relay in the bottom of the D104?
trying to use the red and black wires to make/break vox??....

    yes, what I have is:

    white - pin 1
    black - pin 2
    shield to - connector shell
    red - open

I think the red is connected internally.

I believe that red goes on 2
and shield & black goes on the connector

So that would also allow the PTT to work?

    The mic was listed as:

    mic - red/wht
    ptt - blk/shield

Believe so, and the switch inside should be set on relay.
(Doesnt matter if the red & black are reversed with the bottom switch in the relay position BUT that is how it is listed in the Astatic book for the 101)
If your mic doesnt have the little switch inside a little bit different wiring will be needed...

    I'll give it a try.

    so, just to confirm:

    white - pin 1
    red - pin 2
blk & shield - connector shell

Did you check to see if there is a small switch inside the base of the mic?
There are a few variations and some dont ....
There have been so many incarnations/modifications by users etc over it's lifespan it's hard to know all the players without a scorecard or having it in front of you...

I'll take a look tonight - I got it without a connector, and labels identifying the wires. This is an older model I believe.

Thanks for the help - I'll get back here tomorrow AM.
