I purchased a Diamond HRKS Adhesive Backed Mount to use on my pick-up. The mount is packaged with a NR770HA (or HB) antenna, but the reviews on that model weren't the greatest.

The NR770 is 40.2" tall so I decided to try and find a good Diamond antenna that would outperform (according to reviews) and was close in size.

I found (and ordered) the SG7500A which is 40.6" tall and had great reviews. Since purchasing them together, I'm starting to feel a bit of buyer's remorse. Did I make a good purchase? I was speeking with a fellow ham this weekend who owns the SG7500A as was sure the HRKS would pull from the window in no time.

I planned on mounting the HRKS+SG7500A to the back window of my Pick-up truck. Drilling the roof isn't something I wanted to do. I am trying to get away from the MagMount (Don't like the wires across my roof) and I don't have a 3rd or 4th door to mount an antenna to. I also don't have a roof rack.

Is anyone using that antenna combo, or does anyone think it will work? Any other antennas I could use besides the NR770 with that mount?

My other option would be this:

I was waiting for the temps to get above 80F here before I glued the HRKS to my glass.

    Thanks again and 73

I am not sure of the model you mentioned but a glass mounted antenna has tuned coupling elements on both sides of the glass thet work in conjunction with a specific whip configuration and you can't just switch and swap whips like on a magnetic mount !!!! :eek:L

The HRKS is held onto the glass by what appears to be heavy 3M Double Tape. There is no coupling device.

The HRKS has a UHF connector (in my case) and the coax drops off the bottom of the mount. This would allow any antenna with a UHF mount to use the HRKS - with in reason... which is what I am trying to figure if the SG7500 is in.
