It is interesting on Eham reviews of the 811H and the Al 80 B ,there is .2 difference in the 13 or 14 pages of both reviews. My 811 H works fine.

You need to forget all about the 811A..you can't get around the tube problems!

Also, keep in mind if you buy a NEW AL-80B it has a " two " warranty!

And remember you don't have too run the AL-80B at full power.

I take it they are paying the return shipping ?..If so, they are a great stand up company !

Yes they are paying for return shipping. As for amps - the 80B sounds nice ;)

    GREAT;)

If you buy a used/older amp...keep in mind not all older amps work on the WARC bands !

THANKS - good to know! I think I will stick with new. I know new can have issues, but will cut the chances down :)

A lot of people liked the Yugo also...........

The AL-811 series is fine if you tune it once and stick to one frequency as many hams do....they get into a net and a rut and are happy.
It is not an amp for lots of QSY and retuning and especially slow tuning.

Don't tell my 811h that. I am constantly tuning around mutiple bands, don't do any nets and never in a "rut".

10 to 15M is harder on that amp than 160-17. In its favor consider that not ALL 811A's were bad so consider yourself lucky.

Carl, forget it. It appears we're preaching to a deaf crowd.
